Cody Simpson is keeping up his words as he drops new song from his upcoming third album "Free," as promised. The new song is titled "Thotful."
The 18-year-old Australian hottie's typical earthy vocals sound melodious with his acoustic guitar. The new release is another folksy pop tune just like his earlier few releases "New Problems" and "Flower."
Recent reports state that the song's lyrics and tone will remind the listeners of beaches and sun. The song is about a girl who seems to be nice with everyone except Simpson.
"She'll be nice to everyone she meets, then she'll cut them 'til they bleed," sings the star in a breezy manner. "She's so thotful, but she don't ever think about me."
However, the use of the word Thotful is not appreciated by many social experts and online commentators. Thot is a derogatory word for a woman. It is often used to abuse some one and to refer a promiscuous lady. ANDPOP has raised objections on the lyrics of Simpson's latest release by summarizing it as "bad title, good song."
As the song proceeds, Simpson tells the story of a woman who favours a guy with money and painfully ignores him. The heartbreak in the song seems to be definitely not inspired from his real life lover, Gigi Hadid despite the singer's claims that he often writes song about her.
The Australian teenager is dating Hadid since last year. The couple is known for their on-and-off relationship filled with PDA. While speaking recently at a talk show, the singer seemed to be smitten by the model and cannot stop gushing about her.
"She's a great girl," said the star, Daily Mail reported. "We've been together for over two years. It's nice when you find something worth working toward."
