The oldest stone tools have been discovered in Kenya. These tools date back 3.3 million years and have been used by the human race.
These tools are proving to be solid proof of the fact that our earliest ancestors used sharp tools even in such a primitive time, which was even before the rise of Homo, according to Science Times.
The stone is around 700,000 years older than some of the oldest tools which are currently known to mankind, according to IFL Science.
The stone tools which had captured the number one spot in being the oldest tools till now were found in the city of Gona in Ethiopia and these tools date back to almost 2.6 million years. The current stone tools which were found in Kenya were found around Lake Turkana and they have also led to the yielding of many fossils which tell a lot about early and primitive human life.
This is not the first time that archaeologists have found fossils in Ethiopia. In 2010, scientists had discovered animal bones which dated back to 3.4 million years, and these bones also had cut marks on them which led to the discovery that primitive human beings used to make marks using tools.
This also led to the theory that the primitive humans also used the technique of knapping; which is nothing but the chipping of flakes from a larger stone, using the edges of a smaller stone.
This year gap of 700,000 years and the recent discovery have led the scientists to believe that the humans who had resided in that part of the world were well advanced than previously thought, since they knew how to make such advanced tools with stones.
