"American Idol" 2015 fifth placer Tyanna Jones, who was eliminated on April 29, said her Idol experience has been a roller-coaster ride. The 16-year-old high school student recently spoke about getting through the competition by praying. She also dished the best advice she's received from the AI Season 14 judges.
In her "curtain call" video on American Idol's verified YouTube account, Jones brought up the highs and lows of being in the reality-based singing contest. In a media interview, she described more of the lows and how she managed her anxieties.
"Just really crying out to God and asking Him for forgiveness, that's when it really became really reassuring to me that there is a God who wants to help me," Jones told Christian Post. The young singer explained her faith got stronger despite her anxiety struggles "and being paranoid about things."
On AI's YouTube video, Jones said she is proud of her cover of Janelle Monáe's "Tightrope." She said she "really stepped up with that one."
"American Idol" 2015 judge Jennifer Lopez once told Jones that the best thing she could do is to "be Tyanna" on stage. Jones said this is the best advice she's received.
Tyanna Jones studies at Jacksonville, Florida. Her school has put up signs that will be displayed throughout the year in honor of her remarkable participation on "American Idol" 2015.
"Tyanna will always be our American Idol," Gregory Bostic, principal at Westside High, was quoted as saying in this report by The Florida Times-Union.
Tyanna Jones will be touring American states with the Idol Top 4: Jax, Nick Fradiani, Clark Beckham and Rayvon Owen. The "American Idol" Live Tour will be at Jacksonville's Florida Theatre on July 15.
