"Empire" is set to return for its second season in just a few months and as early as now, it has already been confirmed that singer/songwriter NeYo has been tapped by Fox to pen some of the music for the hit series.

NeYo's inclusion to the team as a music producer may ensure an even greater success for "Empire" because some of the songs he previously wrote became massive hits.

In the past, NeYo wrote Beyonce's hit song "Irreplaceable," Rihanna's "Hate That I Love You" and Keri Hilson's "Knock You Down," according to iDigitalTimes.

Meanwhile, the upcoming season of "Empire" will also feature some new cast members, including, "If I Ain't Got You" singer Alicia Keys, Lenny Kravitz and Chris Rock.

As of late, the roles of the three guest stars have not yet been confirmed, but what has already been confirmed is that supermodel Naomi Campbell and Raven Symone will return to the show to reprise their respective roles, Christian Today reported.

Fox has confirmed that the second season of "Empire" will have at least 18 episodes. During its first season, the network only gave the series a go for 12 episodes.

Despite being offered a 22-episode airing for season 2, "Empire" creator Lee Daniels said that he wants to keep the episodes at a minimum to ensure that fans will always look forward to the next season.

Additionally, the first half of "Empire" season 2 is slated for release this coming fall and the second half of the series will be released in the spring. As of late, it has already been revealed that season 2 will end with a major cliffhanger.
