Hollywood actor and martial arts legend Jackie Chan slammed the internet pranksters for spreading rumors and declared that he is still alive.
"First of all, don't worry! I'm still alive. Second, don't believe the scam on Weibo using my name about the Red Pockets," posted the 61-year-old actor on Facebook account. The "Rush Hour" actor also declared that he has only one official Facebook and Weibo page and warned his fans to be wary of other fake accounts.
The wrong information was first published by CNM Informativo, which stated that the world famous Hong Kong based actor has died of a heart attack, paralyzing his heart and stopping the blood flow to his brain and other vital organs.
The news piece was accompanied by a photoshopped screenshot of shamed NBC reporter Brian Williams broadcasting Chan's death. The news article also carried a tributary quote from his wife, Lin Feng-jiao, asking fans for some privacy for mourning. The news found its way into Twitter and Facebook with several online commentators posting their condolences, Shanghaiist reported.
Chan, who found the news shocking and was left speechless after reading the report of his own death, took immediate corrective action to console his grieving fans by posting personalized message on Facebook and Twitter.
This is not the first time that the "Drunken Master" actor has become the victim of death hoax. In 2013, it was rumored that the actor had fallen to death in a remote area of Hahnenkamm Mountains while on-set during the filming of a movie.
Other Hollywood bigwigs like Reese Witherspoon, Shakira, Bill Cosby and Morgan Freeman had been under the attack of death hoax in the past, spread by internet users.
