AT&T Samsung Galaxy Note 2 received Android 5.1.1 Lollipop OS update through a custom ROM by CyanideL.
Samsung and US carrier AT&T have not confirmed the release of Android 5.1.1 Lollipop OS update to the Samsung Galaxy Note 2. There is an immense possibility that the handset will no longer receive the version of Android operating system since the handset is more than two years old. There is an unwritten rule that smartphones that are two years old will stop getting Android updates.
Meanwhile, CyanideL has been providing the latest custom ROM of Android OS to various devices to help old devices enjoy new OS.
Below is the step-by-step procedure in installing the Android 5.1.1 Lollipop OS via CyanideL Custom ROM, according to International Business Times.
1. Connect the AT&T version of Samsung Galaxy Note 2 to your PC.
2. Copy and paste CyanideL 5.1.1 custom ROM and Google Apps zip files to the microSD card of Galaxy Note 2. No need to extract the zip files.
3. Disconnect the Galaxy Note 2 then switch it off.
4. Reboot into Recovery mode by pressing and holding the volume up, home and power keys at the same time.
5. Inside the Recovery mode, create a backup of the current ROM by selecting "backup and restore > backup." You can restore the saved ROM anytime to revert back the changes.
