Tanishq Abraham, 11, was the youngest to graduate from a Sacramento college with three degrees on May 20, Wednesday, night, not only this year but also possibly in the 60-year history of the school.
On May 21, Thursday, American River College spokesman Scott Crow told NBC Bay Area, "The assumption is that he's the all-time youngest, but we don't have all the archives to completely confirm. He was definitely the youngest this year."
Wearing a rainbow-colored scarf, Abraham walked across the stage that evening having earned three associate degrees from the community college including degrees in math and physical science, general science and language studies.
For Abraham, the milestone was not much of a big thing for him. His mother told Taji Abraham told KCRA, "Even in kindergarten he was pretty ahead, a few years ahead - and then it just went from there."
Knit by his 82-year-old grandmother, the scarf Abraham wore was matched with a decked-out graduation cap with reference to "Toy Story's" mantra "To Infinity and Beyond."
When he was only four years old, Abraham joined MENSA and was home-schooled after feeling "bored" in his classes. Having completed California's early-exit high school exam, he was only 10 when he graduated high school in June 2014 and received a congratulatory message from President Barack Obama and many California officials.
In college, the prodigy said some of the students were intimidated by him but many others were really happy to have someone as young as him in their classes. The 11-year-old would like to become a doctor, a medical researcher, and the president of the United States when he grows up.
