Google’s I/O 2015 developer conference will happen in less than a week and it is likely that the company will release new and updated details about its new mobile operating system, Android M. Rumors have been spreading that Android M is bringing major updates for its users.
For its name, Phone Arena reported that M could stand for Marshmallow or Milky Way or M&M's since Google has been naming their Android versions after pastries and sweets. The version number, on the other hand, could go either way – reports have suggested both Android 5.2 and Android 6.0 for the “M” update.
Under the Material Design, the California-based tech company is likely that it remain the same. Consumers can expect seeing more animations, flat icons, and minimalistic approach to its graphic design.
Another feature included is the voice commands and Google may introduce some essential UX changes on its volume control and notifications.
One significant rumor to note is that Google may boast native support for fingerprint scanners. Along with it is the Android Pay that is based on near-field communication (NFC).
Rumors also stated that there will be more ways to interact using voice. The Nearby feature allows the users to discover and interact with other Android device owners, a similar approach on Apple's iOS' Airdrop.
It is also reported that the search engine giant is working on making its wearable platform fully compatible with iOS devices (iPhones and iPad)s. Google is said to be "close to finishing the final technical details" finally letting users pair their smartwatches with iOS devices, according to Modern Readers.
For the release date, there is a highly chance that people will be seeing all these features at Google I/O next week considering that there is “Android for Work” on the I/O 2015 agenda.
