Hasbro CEO Brian Goldner recently discussed his plans to create a series of spinoff movies under the "Transformers" franchise. According to him, he is greatly interested in creating a spinoff that will be focused on the character Bumblebee.
According to Crossmap, Goldner handpicked Bumblebee because he is a favorite among "Transformers" fans, specifically among young children. Additionally, Goldner believes that a storyline focused on the yellow Camaro could once again make the "Transformers" franchise a huge success.
"Transformers: Age of Extinction" was previously criticized because it reportedly veered away from the usual focus of the first three "Transformers" films. Additionally, the fourth installment's storyline was not really able to appeal to young audiences.
As of late, "Transformers 5" has already been confirmed but information regarding the movie's plot, cast and directors have been scarce. At present, nothing has been confirmed yet and everything that is being reported is mere speculations or rumors.
According to "Transformers" resident director Michael Bay, he will no longer return to the franchise because he wants to focus on directing other films and he wants to be able to tell other stories.
This being said, "Transformers 5" creators should consider finding a new director. From there, the casting could also be put into place. As of late, there are rumors that Shia LaBeouf and Mark Wahlberg could take the lead in the upcoming movie. However, there are also reports that original cast members Nicola Peltz, Megan Fox and Jack Reynor could return to the franchise, Master Herald reported.
"Transformers 5" is slated for release in the United States in 2017.
