There is finally some good news for owners of ZenFone 4, ZenFone 5 and ZenFone 6, as the software company Asus has began rolling out the Android 5.0 Lollipop update.
The Asus ZenFone 4, ZenFone 5, and ZenFone 6 owners were not expecting to get the Android 5.0 update this soon since previous reports said that the software company was having a difficult time fixing the issues with the Lollipop rollout.
The Android 5.0 Lollipop update for the three smartphones has begun rolling out over-the-air, according to Christian Today. The Lollipop update can also be downloaded via the Asus ZenTalk forum.
According to the company, the update will not support some apps that have been pre-installed in the smartphones, NDTV Gadgets reported.
For the ZenFone 4, the apps that are not compatible with Android 5.0 Lollipop are the Google Text-to-Speech, Movie Studio and battery widget.
The apps that are incompatible with Android 5.0 Lollipop for the ZenFone 5 are the Magic Smoke Wallpaper, Cloud Print, CMClient, the PhotoFrame widget, Movie Studio and battery widget.
For the ZenFone 6, the apps that are not compatible are the Movie Studio, Google Text-to-Speech, Cloud Print, battery widget, Magic Smoke Wallpaper, the PhotoFrame widget and CMClient.
The apps that are not compatible will be removed from the smartphones upon upgrading the operating systems of the handsets to Android 5.0 Lollipop.
Asus said that for the ZenFone 6 and ZenFone 5, upgrading to Android 5.0 Lollipop can lead to problems with the Asus Contacts widget. The widget may not load properly. Therefore, owners should remove the old widget and re-add the new Asus Contacts widget to the Home screen of their devices.
The Android 5.0 update brings improved VOIP phone call function and music function, addition of Day Scene Live Wallpaper, TripAdvisor, auto-start service manager and My Ocean wallpaper, revamped Dialler and Contacts and new lockscreen with removed standalone wallpaper and weather details.
