Goop curator Gwyneth Paltrow was recently asked about actresses who are also successful entrepreneurs. In her answer, she mentioned "Gossip Girl" alum Blake Lively, "Entourage" star Jessica Alba and "Wild" actress Reese Witherspoon as well as George Clooney and Puff Daddy.
In an interview with Time, Paltrow was asked if she looks at the sites started by other successful actresses. The curator of the weekly lifestyle publication Goop said it was a very interesting question explaining, "I wonder if George Clooney would be asked about Puff Daddy's ancillary liquor line."
The "Tomorrowland" actor created Casamigos Tequila with his friend Rande Gerber while the "I'll Be Missing You" rapper bought tequila brand DeLeon in 2014 with British drinks multinational Diageo as his partner.
While she acknowledged that her business has similarities with the businesses of Lively, Alba and Witherspoon, Paltrow said she is slightly offended by the generalization that happens with herself and her fellow actresses who became entrepreneurs. Still, she said she understands that the media are "grasping at straws" to tie them together just to make a good story.
The Oscar-winning actress, who recently starred with "Pirates Of The Caribbean" star Johnny Depp in "Mortdecai," pointed out that the fundamentals of successful actresses' sites are very different.
Paltrow expressed how fascinated she is by how confounded the media are by entrepreneurial women "doing something outside of their box" like Alba, who happens to her friend. She said her business and Alba's "could not be more different" as there is not a lifestyle piece to her business. She added that her business and that of Witherspoon have similarities but the latter has retail.
