The ninth generation of Apple's mobile platform, the iOS 9, is expected to make a grand debut at the WWDC with some new features. Previously nicknamed "Monarch," the much-anticipated OS will be bringing a new feature that is intuitive and full of possibilities.
This new feature is called the Force Touch, which according to Forbes, was first shown off in the Apple Watch. The main selling point of the Force Touch is the ability to differentiate among the different types and pressures of touches. This brings up the new possibility of creating new commands and shortcuts depending on how light or how strong a user presses on the touchpad.
In the Apple Watch, Force Touch operates by making use of electrodes on the Retina display that will enable the mechanism to distinguish between a tap and a full press. From expanding the types of modes for photos and videos to exploring the feature's advantages for third party apps, Force Touch opens up a lot of possibilities to customize phone use according to the owner's needs.
Apart from the iOS 9, Apple is also expected to showcase its newest streaming platform, reportedly dubbed "Apple Music." The service is supposedly one that is meant to replace the existing iTunes, and one that is based on the Beats Music subscription service.
What this means is that Apple's newest streaming service will no longer offer freemium plan. Instead, Mac Rumors reported that the new service will have a $9.99 per month model for consumers. Most of the features that have been seen in Beats Music will be adapted to Apple Music, particularly its customization offers that made the former service a success.
To entice possible subscribers, Apple will be offering Apple Music on a three-month free trial, after which the subscription fee will be implemented. This does not mean that freemium users will no longer have a music streaming service to patronize. iTunes Radio will see a makeover to become a companion app to Apple Music, only this one will be a free service.
However, even this will only serve as a way to hook people into subscribing to the new platform. The report stated that Apple will mainly target users outside of the United States with the free companion app as a steppingstone for the paid service.
