French gossip magazine Oops! has irked "The Wolf Of Wall Street," actor Leonardo DiCaprio who is taking the publication to court over rumors that he has rejected a child he has fathered with "Umbrella" singer Rihanna.
The actor's legal representatives have filed a case in French courts demanding a retraction of the story by the gossip magazine along with financial compensation as much as the laws in France will allow, according to Gossip Cop.
While Dicaprio's involvement with the singer has generated much media hype in recent weeks, the owner of the French publication, Frederic Truskolaski told the website his magazine was aware that the story was untrue but still published it for the attention.
He was further quoted as saying the publication was not sure if Rihanna was pregnant or not at the time the story was published as well.
When asked by the website if he is hopeful he will win the case, he said it is normal for publications to lose such cases and expressed shock that the Hollywood actor 40, was taking the story seriously.
According to the laws in France a compensation of this nature permits a payout which includes cost for damages and legal fees to the amount of US$ 20,000.
The actor's team of lawyers in court papers viewed by the website reports that they have asked that the publication be fined another Euros 10,000, if an apology is not extended and a retraction printed.
The publication violated strict privacy laws as well according to the Daily Mail which said the actor was suing also because pictures of himself that were used in the article went against the country's stringent privacy laws.
The controversial cover story which was published last month drew Dicaprio's attention when he was in Cannes for the International Film Festival.
The case will be taken up before a court in Paris on June 16, the British publication reported.
