Chapter 70 of the post-Apocalypse manga series Shingeki No Kyojin, also known as Attack on Titan, was released on Tuesday, and as expected, the 45-page issue was loaded with revelations that would surely rattle readers to their core.
It's a very fitting end to the series' Uprising Arc' that uncovered the secrets of the Monarchy that ruled the walled city for more than 100 years and delved deeper into the character of Krista Lenz, who ascended to the throne as Historia Reiss - the true ruler of the walls.
Two months into her reign as Queen, Reiss has remained an important lynchpin of humanity's effort to retake the exterior wall, Wall Maria, although it was revealed that Historia is merely acting as a dummy in power because the Survey Corps were the ones controlling the government.
Nevertheless, Historia is expected to have a bigger role with the Survey Corps preparing to launch a full-blown reconnaissance mission to Shiganshina District, where they attempt to seek the secrets of the titans waiting to be found at the basement of Eren Jaeger's house.
Entitled as "the Dream I Saw One Day," Chapter 70 of Attack on Titan also dropped bombs regarding the identity of several prominent characters in the story.
Hange Zoe -Attack on Titan creator Hajime Isayama insisted the gender of fourth squad leader Hange Zoe isn't important to the story. However, he somehow gave a huge hint on the character's sexuality in this chapter during a conversation between Eren Jaeger and the Survey Corps official.
The Contents of Titan Serum - In a meeting with Dot Pixis, Erwin Smith and other top-ranking military men, Hange informed that they still don't have the technology that would allow them to determine the chemistry behind the Titan serum. However, after analyzing the serum given to Levi by his uncle Kenny Ackerman before his death, he managed to surmise that it could contain a liquid from someone's spinal cord.
Keith Shandis Association to Griesha Jaeger - Shandis, the former leader of the Survey Corps and chief instructor of the 104th Trainees Squad, might have some association to Eren's father, Griesha Jaeger, and perhaps know some information as to what is waiting for them at Shiganshina District.
The Mystery behind Ape Titan - One of the great mysteries in the Attack on Titan universe is whether the Ape Titan that appeared within Wall Rose was a normal deviant giant or a shifter just like Eren and the rest of the Warriors. Chapter 70 revealed not only its true identity but also his connection with Bertolt Hoover and Reiner Braun.
