The mobile carrier Sprint is now rolling out Android Lollipop 5.1.1 over-the-air (OTA) update to LG G Flex 2. The update may be rolled out in batches and may take a few days to reach one's unit.
The new firmware for the G Flex 2 sports the version number LS996ZV6. Users can check manually for the update by going to Settings > About Phone > Software updates > Check for Updates.
Factory reset protection is included in the Lollipop update, GSMArena reported. The feature increases the security level for users of LG G Flex 2 in case of lost or stolen units. Anyone who attempts to reset the factory settings of the LG G Flex 2 would be prompted to enter the Google password of the user making the smartphone more secure.
Also, it is expected that Android 5.1.1 update will fix the memory leak bug affecting users of Android Lollipop 5.0. Users have allegedly needed to reboot their device for a temporary solution but this bug should be fixed on this Android update roll-out.
Other enhancements for Android Lollipop 5.1.1 include some new animations in Clock app and a new status bar icon signifying no SIM inserted would be introduced. The screen pinning feature of Android Lollipop 5.0 has been clarified to enable easy locking other people from opening a certain app of the user.
Also, Android 5.1.1 version will become available for the Moto E, Moto X and Moto G in the coming weeks, according to reports. Reports indicate that the Android 5.1.1 Lollipop update is in the works and will be ready by the end of this month. The 2014 Moto devices in selected areas are already getting the update.
According to Venture Capital Post, the software company Motorola will release the 2015 Moto X in August. It is believed that the new handset will run on the forthcoming Android M. It is assumed that the Android 5.1.1 Lollipop update will be ready for download across all Motorola platforms before the Moto X (third generation) is launched.
