"Fantastic Four" director Josh Trank recently weighed in on the ongoing casting controversy for the upcoming movie. According to him, there is a reason why he chose the final cast members to star in the film.
In a recent interview with The Los Angeles Times, Trank said that fans should not react negatively to the casting because "Fantastic Four" will be created as a separate movie and not a continuation of the past films.
With this, Trank acknowledged that a reboot and not a sequel may be difficult for fans to accept because they have been so used to the film's original format and casting. However, the director said that it is important for him to not just retell the old story, but to also come up with an interesting take on the movie and at one point, he hopes that fans will be open to that.
Meanwhile, film producer Simon Kinberg also explained their decision to cast a newcomer to play the role of Thing. Following their confirmation, fans reacted negatively saying that there were better actors who could give justice to the role.
However, Kinberg also explained that all of their decisions have a purpose and it will be revealed once audiences finally get to see the film on the big screen, Screen Rant reported.
Still, despite all of the negative comments the "Fantastic Four" creators are receiving at the moment, Kinberg and Trank said that they are happy that fans are talking about the film, which could mean that they are still interested to watch it.
As of late, Michael B. Jordan has already been cast to play the role of Johnny Storm or The Human Torch. "Fantastic Four" is slated for release in the United States on Aug. 7, 2015.
