Moto X 2013 received Android 5.1.1 Lollipop OS update thanks to Dirty Unicorns Custom ROM.
Motorola has not rolled out the official version of Android 5.1.1 Lollipop OS update. However, thanks to Dirty Unicorns Custom ROM, the handset received the perks and new features of the latest operating system, according to WCCF Tech.
Motorola product manager David Schuster posted in his Google+ account that the soak test for Android 5.1 OS update in Moto X 2013.
"Hey guys, quick update here for Moto X (1st Gen). We have started full soak testing again in the U.S. on the 5.1 Lollipop upgrade for our retail channels. If the data looks good, we'll move to full deployment in about a week.
In addition, we also initiated a full soak test for Brazil retail and Rogers in Canada yesterday for Moto X (1st Gen).
Please ensure that you have accepted any updates from the Play Store for Motorola Update Services (to version 4 or higher). You will need this to get the upgrade notification."
Below is the step-by-step procedure on how to download and install the Android 5.1.1 Lollipop Dirty Unicorns Custom ROM for the Moto X 2013.
Step 1: Download the Dirty Unicorns Custom ROM and Google Package Apps in your computer.
Step 2: Use a USB cable to connect your Moto X to your computer and copy the downloaded ROM files to your handset.
Step 3: Unplug the Moto X 2013 and boot it into recovery mode by pressing hold Volume Up, Volume Down and Power button.
Step 4: Create a backup of the current ROM in the Recovery Mode. Select Backup from Recovery and Swipe for the Swipe to Backup button.
Step 5: Select Wipe system/data/cache/internal and SDcard.
Step 6: Go back to recovery menu and select install the Dirty Unicorn Custom ROM.
Step 7: The GApps will be installed in the same manner.
Step 8: Reboot the device.
Flashing Custom ROM can break your phone. Thus, users are constantly reminded to proceed with caution.
