After the arrival of OxygenOS in April, OnePlus One handsets have not received new firmware update. Users are now waiting to receive OxygenOS Android 5.1 Lollipop update, but the manufacturer has officially announced that new OxygenOS firmware will arrive only after the release of OnePlus 2.
When OnePlus One was introduced to the market, it arrived with Cyanogen powered Android OS. However, when problems surfaced between OnePlus and Cyanogen, the former decided to launch its own OxygenOS.
Helen, an administrator on OnePlus forums and a OnePlus staff member, has claimed that the CM12.1 with Android 5.1 is going to be available soon. However, when it came to the OxygenOS update, she added that the entire OnePlus crew is busy working on releasing the OnePlus 2 that will come to replace the OnePlus One smartphone.
The OnePlus staff member further stated that the new version of OxygenOS will fix touchscreen issues but, it will be made available only after OnePlus 2 release. She also proclaimed that the newer device will have OxygenOS as its official operating system.
In the recent past, the OnePlus had carried out flash sales for selling the One smartphone with a price cut of $50. However, on June 8, OnePlus had announced through its official blog that the One smartphone will be available with a permanent discount. The 16 GB OnePlus One is now priced at $249 whereas 64 GB edition carries a price tag of $299.
Since the Chinese manufacturer has partnered with Dropbox, the 64 GB OnePlus One is now also selling with one year subscription of Dropbox Pro for $349.
