New Sony PS4 accessories celebrating the 20th anniversary of the game system will include a special edition PS4 controller and headset with PSX throwback colors. The Dual Shock 4 retro game controller and Gold Wireless vintage headset will go on sale in the United States in September.
News of the retro PlayStation accessories was made soon after Sony's press conference at the 2015 Electronic Entertainment Expo (E3). E3 is a yearly trade fair for the video game industry.
The old-school PlayStation controller will also be available in Europe in September. However, in a slight twist a White Wireless Stereo headset will go on sale in Europe then, according to PlayStation Lifestyle.
The PS4 headset and controller feature a color scheme of two-tone grey, according to Engadget. They are also plastered with the unique PlayStation logo.
According to the official Sony Twitter account, the PS4 controller will cost about $65. Meanwhile, the headset will have a price tag of around $65.
Prior to Sony's announcement about the classic accessories, the throwback controller was only available for the 20th Anniversary PS4 console. 12,000 units were produced.
In other news about PS4 controller color options, another hot hue will be available in the U.S. this month: Magma Red. Other colors showcased on the PlayStation homepage include Glacier White, Wave Blue, Urban Camouflage, and Jet Black.
Expect further details from Sony during the summer months regarding the PSX-style retro controller and headset.
Sony launched the original Japan PlayStation game console in December 1994, and the U.S. version in September 1995. Over 102 million units have been sold worldwide.
