“Final Fantasy VII Remake” is reportedly not the final title for the remake of the fan-favorite “Final Fantasy VII,” officially announced by Square Enix at the Sony’s E3 press conference 2015.
“Essentially we put that there to say ‘yes, this is a remake,” Executive Producer, Shinji Hashimoto, said in an interview to the IGN, adding that more information about the game and the final title will be made available by this December.
The “Final Fantasy VII Remake” will not be just a re-mastering of the original PS1 game, but will be entirely rebuilt. Hashimoto noted that the team is looking at the original game and is “putting in a lot of thought” to see what needs to be changed to meet the fans’ expectations.
Director Tetsuya Nomura has said that the “Final Fantasy VII Remake” will not be simple remake of just visual upgrade to a carbon copy of the original game, noting that making graphics prettier for the current generation consoles would never exceed the original. He asked the fans to look forward to it, as the team is making considerable progress.
Nomuro also noted that the studio has plans to announce the official title of the “Final Fantasy VII Remake,” later this year and in regards to other details, the team is still determining what to reveal this winter.
The “Final Fantasy VII Remake” will not be the only classic game to get the rebuilt treatment as Nomura has expressed interest in remaking other versions in the series - Final Fantasy V and VI.
“Considering that we have remakes of Final Fantasy up to IV and then we have VII — I’ve been working with Mr. [Yoshinori] Kitase since Final Fantasy V, and we’ve noticed that V and VI are missing. That bothers me,” Nomura told VentureBeat. “How come we skipped over those two?”
