The popular online news media company Buzzfeed launched a mobile news app providing quick and short-sized news content to summarize top stories every hour.
Buzzfeed released its mobile app on Apple Store last week. The user-interface is simple, showing concise description of each top news stories. While scrolling down, users can see more details of each story, allowing them to tap a certain story to read it in full. In accessing other new stories, users can simply swipe back, CNET reported.
The editorial staff that works on the news app make an effort to add refreshing content that will be helpful to their readers. Aside from the text of the stories, editors try to add graphs, bullet-point lists, and other background information like relevant tweets. Buzzfeed will rely on a team of 170 reporters to provide latest news each hour. The news app will also add multiple relevant stories that concern a single subject, according to Venture Beat. The top stories were pulled from Buzzfeed and other online news resources like Flipboard, News360, LinkedIn Pulse and Google News.
However, users cannot customize the app with only interesting stories from them. On the other hand, its notifications can be personalized, picking only the category that really interests them. If a user is inclined with technology or entertainment, they can change the setting to notify them any breaking news on those chosen categories. Users can also share the news stories on email, instant messaging, Twitter or Facebook via the app’s toolbar or Apple's iOS extensions.
Later this year, Buzzfeed will also launch its mobile news app on Android platform.
