Fan Bingbing, a Chinese actress and producer, will play as the Tang Dynasty concubine Yang Yuhuan for the "Lady of the Dynasty" in July.
Yang Yuhuan, the subject of the big-screen project, was famed for her good looks and the attention she received from Emperor Xuanzong.
The movie will revolve around the love story of Yang Yuhuan and Emperor Xuanzong.
The trailer of the film was released during the Shanghai International Film Festival. At the film Fest, Fan was shown in typical Tang attire and without the restrictions previously placed on "Empress of China."
In "Empress of China," a TV drama based on events in the 7th and 8th-century Tang Dynasty, Fan played the role of Wu Zetian. The character was the only woman in Chinese history to rule as an emperor.
The TV drama created a buzz in social media because of the amount of cleavage shown by actresses. The State Administration of Press, Publication, Radio, Film and Television wanted the "unhealthy content" to be cut.
In 2014, authorities had asked Hunan TV to adjust the visuals of Fan and other actresses in corsets in the show by using close-ups of their faces and heads in shots that had them.
Now the cleavage is back on focus and without much ado in the "Lady of the Dynasty."
"Movies and TV series are different productions and they have different social influences. I don't think the movie needs such cuts," Shi Qing, a director of the movie, said in an interview on the sidelines of the festival.
The movie is expected to come out in theaters by July 30 under the China Film Group Corporation. The film began shooting in Jan. 2012.
