A new feature for the upcoming OnePlus 2 flagship has been revealed. Fans who are looking forward to the follow-up flagship to OnePlus One can now expect the inclusion of the Type-C USB in the handset.
This was confirmed via the official OnePlus Twitter, where the company added that it wanted to be the leader in power connectivity with the new feature. This is also the first time that this type of USB will be included in the company's flagship.
The Type-C USB is a useful connection to have. It allows connections for video ports in HDMI and DisplayPort, allows data transfers for up to 10 Gbps and is capable of backwards-compatibility with older ports.
The announcement for the OnePlus 2's new USB option follows the previous announcement of the Snapdragon 810 v2.1 being the processor for the OnePlus 2. This boosts the features and capabilities of the OnePlus 2 to include better battery life as well as less bandwidth usage.
OnePlus not only confirmed the use of the Snapdragon 810 v2.1 but also addressed some of the concerns regarding the new processor. In a blog post via the official OnePlus website, the team emphasized that the 810 to be a much powerful and also expensive counterpart.
Because of this, production cost involving the Snapdragon 810 v2.1 is 60% more expensive. This also confirms that the OnePlus 2 will cost more than the rumored $322.
"But, the 810 is a top-of-the-line processor, and it's what the OnePlus 2 deserves. We've taken precautions to make sure none of our users have to settle," said OnePlus via the blog.
Previously, there had been speculations that the price will be around this range, given an internal leak that showed off the price in China at 1999 Yuan, Android Authority reported. Since there are no confirmed price listings for the United States and the fact that the Snapdragon 810 v2.1 will cost higher than its counterpart, it's safe to bet that the OnePlus 2 will be a costlier but also more advanced handset than its counterpart.
