Before "Nurse Jackie" season 7 finale airs on June 28, Sunday, Edie Falco gave her thoughts about the Showtime series, which premiered on June 8, 2009, and the title character Jackie Peyton.
In a recent interview with Entertainment Weekly, it was pointed out that "Nurse Jackie" has been a favorite not only of critics but also of fans since the beginning and Falco said she did not have any idea that it would be so embraced.
"When I go into these things, I only have a visceral sense that there's something interesting about the character," Falco said. "I never know how the character will be perceived. You only hope people will want to watch her as much as I like to play her."
Grateful that people have watched "Nurse Jackie" the way they have, Falco also talked about what is up next for her. She said she is reading things but it has got to be something that she is knock-down and cuckoo-crazy about.
"There are lots of interesting things out there," Falco explained. "I'm up for another series. It's a lifestyle that really suits me. I like having a steady work life. It's like having a real job."
In another interview with Variety, Falco pointed out that she has worked since she was 14. She said after "Sopranos," she had plenty of time to let go of Carmela and get to know someone new from her vantage point.
Falco said, "We created a work environment on this show that is unrivaled in my life for the kindness and respect that we had. It was not by accident. It worked for us, and it was magical."
