Firing back at NBC over its decision to cut all ties with him, Donald Trump remarked, after a campaign event in Chicago, that although he had a good run with NBC, he will not back down about what he said about immigrants during his presidential speech.
"NBC is weak, and like everybody else is trying to be politically correct. That is why our country is in serious trouble," Us Weekly quoted the business magnate.
The 69-year-old 2016 presidential candidate even declared that he will possibly sue NBC for violating their contract of Miss Universe/Miss USA. NBC Universal has yet to comment on the lawsuit possibility.
NBC reportedly severed all ties with the 2016 presidential candidate following his derogatory remarks against Mexican immigrants.
As a result of the NBC's decision, the network will no longer air Trump's upcoming beauty pageants, Miss USA and Miss Universe. Also, the TV personality turned politician will no longer host the NBC's reality show, "Celebrity Apprentice."
According to CNN Money, NBC has taken the step under pressure from an array of Hispanic groups following Trump's hate rant in reference to immigrants. Unti now, both pageants were jointly owned by NBC and Trump.
Trump found himself in scorching waters after he commented during his presidential campaign kickoff event that Mexican immigrants are majorly responsible for bringing drugs and crime in U.S.
The remark has sparked an instant controversy after which Miss USA co-hosts, Latin beauty Roselyn Sanchez and Chilean actor Cristian de la Fuente along with one of the judges, Zuleyka Rivera of Puerto Rico, pulled themselves out of the show, citing their strong disapproval towards Trump's harsh words. The pageant is scheduled to air on July 12.
