Windows 10 build 10158 was released to testers on June 29. It is the latest iteration of the upcoming operating system from Microsoft. As the official release of Windows 10 is fast approaching, the latest Windows build from Microsoft sheds more light as to what features will finally make it to the official version.
Perhaps the biggest change for Windows 10 is the decision to replace Internet Explorer, which has been the company's default browser program for 19 years, with the newly developed Microsoft Edge.
Microsoft Edge, initially developed as Project Spartan, was announced in January and was publicly released in Mar. 30. The program will be the default cross-platform browser for Microsoft encompassing the Windows PC, tablets and smartphone platform.
With Windows 10 build 10158, Microsoft finally unveiled Microsoft Edge's official branding. According to PC World, the logo is a blue colored letter E that looks similar to the one used by Internet Explorer.
For the desktop platform, Microsoft Edge will sport a black theme in order to match Windows 10's taskbar. The browser will also have an added menu for sharing content. It was also reported that Microsoft Edge will support Auto-Fill, a feature common in modern browser programs.
Windows build 10158 also contains several update for Microsoft's digital personal assistant Cortana. According to the official Windows blog, "We have a consolidated left rail now and Cortana's Notebook is in its final stage with a combined Profile and Settings experience."
The blog added that Cortana can now send email. Through voice recognition, Cortana can send email to multiple people. Microsoft said that Cortana can also make corrections through voice command, however this feature requires connection to the Internet and only works with U.S. English.
Microsoft has already announced that Windows 10 release is scheduled on July 29.
