Rihanna is the new undisputed queen of the pop charts. With her more than 100 million gold and platinum single certifications, she became the 21st century's ultimate pop star.
Since 1945, Rihanna is the first and only artist to reach 100 million song certifications. Her 48 million new Recording Industry Association of America digital certifications is enough to recognize her milestone in the industry of music, RIAA reported.
According to RIAA Chairman and CEO Cary Sherman, the gold and platinum is the industry's premier way to celebrate achievement in the industry. RIAA has been awarding artists for nearly 60 years and Rihanna's milestone is a history. Sherman congratulated Rihanna saying that she not only surpassed RIAA's one-hundred million marks, but also is the first artist to do so making a testament to an extraordinary career.
Rihanna is a pop starlet puppet who can not even write her own song or play instruments. But she is waving, winking and smiling directly into the nightmares of all her haters and cannot be defeated, as far as commercial success is concerned, The Guardian reported.
Some are reasons how Rihanna vaults over the competition. She made everyone shout Umbrella-ella-ella. The release of this song was perfectly timed with awful weather in some countries, storms in New Zealand and Romania and floods in the UK where it spent nine weeks at thnumber one spot.
Rihanna used 1980s hits on new tracks such as "Shut Up And Drive" and "Don't Stop The Music" that features snippet from Michael Jackson's "Wanna Be Startin Somethin". She widened her audience demographic by including the 80s touch in her songs.
Playing the island girl at the right time is what Rihanna did on her single "Pon de Replay" which combined Beyonce's "Baby Boy," Jennifer Lopez and Madonna's recent DJ-request anthems.
Used different genre on her songs, Rihanna was able to connect with her fans using social media platform by uploading her holiday photos and her iconic fashion style made her successful in holding the 21st century's ultimate pop star title.
