Patrick Schwarzenegger, son of "Terminator" star, Arnold Schwarzenegger, who is best known for his brief fling with pop star Miley Cyrus, is set to play the lead role in the upcoming movie, "Midnight Sun," starring alongside "Shake It Up" actress, Bella Thorne.
The movie will prove to be a landmark in the acting career of Patrick, who has to date done only minor roles in a couple of movies like "Grown Ups 2" and "Stuck In Love." The USC student was also seen as Romeo in Ariana Grande's 2013 video, "Right There" and will also be seen in a small role in the upcoming comedy movie, "Scouts Guide To The Zombie Apocalypse," set to release on Nov. 27, Deadline reported.
"Midnight Sun" is said to be based on the hit 2006 Japanese film. The movie will feature the former Disney star as a young girl named Katie, who has lived in a shelter since childhood and suffers from a rare disease, due to which she is extremely allergic to sunlight. The girl falls in love with a young man named Charlie, Patrick's character and together they enjoy an incredible summer.
The movie's production is expected to start in September this year, People reported. The movie's release date is yet to be announced officially, though, it is likely to hit the theatres in the fall of 2016.
The 21-year-old's mother and heiress, Maria Shriver, took to Twitter to break the news. She tweeted, "Congrats to @PSchwarzenegger! So exciting. Hard work pays off."
The movie will be financed by Boies/Schiller Film Group. Scott Speer of "Step Up: Revolution" fame has been roped in to direct the movie, which is penned down by Eric Kirsten.
