Techies are anticipating new flagships from Samsung and Apple later this year. HTC, which initially said it would launch a "hero product" in October 2015, has no new official word in the roll out of the rumored HTC One M10.
The name, though, could be changed because of the poor sales of the HTC One M9, notes PCAdvisor, which speculated that the Taiwan-based phonemaker could instead call it HTC Two. Whatever HTC calls the upcoming "hero device" that company chairwoman Cher Wang promised in June to roll out in October, would likely be released in the last month of 2016's first quarter or the first month of the second quarter.
Wang has promised there would be significant improvements in innovations and design for that hero device, with a likely retail price between $850 and $900. But a completely different M10 may totally change its price tag and be a rival to the anticipated Apple iPhone 6 and Samsung Galaxy Note 5.
One unlikely change, though, is the one-piece aluminium casing which HTC has become known for. Speculated specs include the possible use of the Snapdragon 820 processor, larger storage options of 64 and 128GB and 27Mp main camera and 5Mp front shooter.
Phone Dog believes that HTC should have the optical image stabilization, or OIS, feature for the camera of M10 rather than the electronic image stabilization, or EIS, which bothers some users of the M9 with the need to reduce image quality.
While One M9's 5-inc 1920x1080 screen disappointed some HTC owners, the website said that credible evidence is lacking that the M10 would have 4K displays and even anticipates the screen would remain at QHD or 2560x1440 for a while.
Likewise, Phone Dog foresees the M10 having a 98 percent chance of including a fingerprint sensor in the upcoming hero unit, considered a must-have for techies who are security conscious.
