With Christopher McQuarrie's "Mission Impossible: Rogue Nation" hitting the big screen this month, lead star Tom Cruise has revealed that he did his airplane stunt for a total of eight times on set.
"Top Gun" actor Cruise chose to execute his thrilling airplane stunt in actual, while it can be easily done via green screens, fans, and digital effects, according to Cinema Blend. The actor will be seen in the film with the stunt, which is to get leashed to the lateral of an airplane that is taking off.
In the latest "Mission Impossible: Rogue Nation" featurette released by Paramount Pictures, visual effects supervisor David Vickery mentioned that if something went wrong, he could not get into the airplane. Stunt coordinator Wade Eastwood also said that it can be the end for the lead actor if the plane crashes.
Cruise also said in the featurette that he could not sleep the night before the production. He also mentioned that on the day of the production, he felt the force of the winds hit him, making him badly frightened.
The airplane sequence was inspired from the best moment of Amy Hennig's action adventure game "Uncharted 3: Drake's Deception," according to VG 24/7.
The video game brought out a scene, which involved Drake racing with a cargo plane, manages to get inside, then makes an attempt to rise his way back. It looks as if McQuarrie affirms this on his tweet last July 13, saying "Group effort/Uncharted."
Along with Cruise, "Mission Impossible: Rogue Nation" stars Rebecca Ferguson, Jeremy Renner, Simon peg, Alec Baldwin, Ving Rhames, and Sean Harris, among others.
McQuarrie's "Mission Impossible: Rogue Nation" is set to premiere in theaters on July 31. Watch the latest stunt featurette here:
