Microsoft Surface Pro 4 release date was reportedly delayed because of CEO Satya Nadella's "Microsoft One" approach.
Previous reports claimed that Microsoft Surface Pro 4 release will be held on July 29 alongside the official launch of Windows 10 operating system. However, it seems that Microsoft dropped some hints that this may not be the case.
According to The Statesman, Microsoft's new CEO aim is "one unifying platform, one unifying experience" and "that to me is the clear differentiator of what Windows stands for". He added that Windows 10 is going to run on everything from phones to tablets to surface hubs as well as to the HoloLens, Microsoft's first fully untethered, see-through holographic computer.
This is not the first time that the tech industry heard about the goal. Nadella wrote a letter to Microsoft employees explaining his plans for fiscal year 2016. In the letter, he explained the adoption of the new "One Microsoft" approach.
Geek Wire published some of the contents of the aforementioned letter, "We will need to innovate in new areas, execute against our plans, make some tough choices in areas where things are not working and solve hard problems in ways that drive customer value."
Although not specified, this subtly hints that Microsoft will focus in strengthening its operating system first before releasing new devices in order to get a better footing in the market.
Aside from the "Microsoft One" approach, the current updates made in the current Surface Pro 3 and Surface 3 Tablet provided clues that its successor may not arrive soon. Moreover, Microsoft adds more selling partners and retailers to promote and sell the Surface Pro 3.
Whether Microsoft will release the Surface Pro 4 later this month or not, the Redmond-based company will have to make an official announcement yet.
