After nearly six years and nearly 14 different spin-offs, the fan-favorite “Angry Birds” is all set to get its sequel, “Angry Birds 2.”
Finland-based Rovio Entertainment has shared an official poster of the upcoming “Angry Birds 2,” as a part of their invite for the San Francisco event to be held on July 28 Tuesday, and in New York on July 29, Wednesday.
Rovio has not revealed any other information about the sequel, other than promising for a “bigger, badder, birdier” experience with the new “Angry Bird 2” for the players, IGN reported.
The original “Angry Birds” was released in the year 2009 on all the mobile platforms, which spawned to a number of spin-offs including the licensed crossover “Angry Birds Star Wars” developed by Rovio. The game was downloaded more than 2 billion times. Apart from the spin-offs from Rovio, the game also was the inspiration for a number of games with a similar gameplay.
The sequel appears to have subtle changes in the character designs, though not like the anthropomorphic versions seen in the film. The developer, having waited for nearly six years for the “Angry Birds 2” release, even with so many spin-offs like “Angry Birds Rio,” “Angry Birds Space,” “Angry Birds Go,” that could have easily been named as the sequel, makes the new title special, according to Forbes.
Just the teaser of the new game seems to have created a buzz, even while what Rovio has in store about the new “Angry Birds 2” for the fans at the events in San Francisco and New York, is yet to be known.
