Sony has released the Android 5.1 Lollipop OTA update for the Xperia Z2 and Xperia Z3 smartphones and tablets.
The Android 5.1 Lollipop update is currently seeding to the Xperia Z3, Xperia Z3 Compact, Xperia Z3 Tablet Compact, Xperia Z2 and Xperia Z2 Tablet, Sony Mobile announced through its official blog. It states that the Android 5.1 Lollipop update has been blended with its Xperia UI software for better user experience.
Owners of the aforementioned devices will be able to enjoy more customization options. Sony has improved the Superior Auto Mode focus for snapping better photos in unfavorable conditions.
The update also includes Linkedin integration for the calendar and improved enterprise support. The update arrives with SmartWear integration which allows owners of Sony SmartWatch 3 to use it as remote shutter button for shooting selfies easily.
Since the Japanese smartphone manufacturer has officially released the update, users will soon see an Android 5.1 Lollipop OTA update notification. If the update is not showing up automatically, users can manually check for it by navigating to Menu > Settings > About device > Software update > Update
Even though Sony has released the Android 5.1 Lollipop update, some carriers may delay its release, Phone Arena reported. Hence, the arrival of the update mainly depends on the cellular service provider and the region of the customer.
The next set of devices that are going receive the Android 5.1. Lollipop update over the coming weeks includes Xperia Z1, Xperia Z1 Compact and Xperia Z Ultra. The update will be then made available for Xperia T2 Ultra and Xperia C3 followed by Xperia Z series devices, Xperia M2 and Xperia M2 Aqua.
