Paula Abdul and James Corden performed a recreation of Abdul's hit song "Opposites Attract" during the "Late Late Show," on Tuesday.
Corden and Abdul hit the stage to perform a surprise lip-sync duet of the '90s hit song. According to Access Hollywood, their performance brought back a piece of the '90s atmosphere, with Abdul dressed in a retro-white jumpsuit and Corden dressed in his furry MC Skat Kat costume.
The reenactment brought the original dance moves of "Opposites Attract," with the additional special touch of a prop bed for a literal on-stage interpretation of the lyrics. The cheerful atmosphere made the audience stand up from their seats and start dancing, with the couple right among them.
Corden continued the stage performance on the Wednesday episode of the "Late Late Show." This time, he decided to join the Broadway singer Kristin Chenoweth in a duet.
In order to surprise the audience, Corden first communicated with Chenoweth via video, and the singer did not seem interested to chat with him. She said she was tired and did not feel like chatting. In an attempt to persuade her to come on stage, Corden started singing "Why don't we chat." During his performance, Chenoweth appeared on stage and joined Corden in the duet. At the end of the song, the two continues to dance to the melody until the performance came to an end.
According to ET, Corden's performances leave the viewers wondering if the show could be changed into an all singing and dancing format, rather than just being a talk show.
"The Late Late Show" also includes various song reenactments during carpool sing-a-longs. Corden uses this part of the show to sing along with famous singers like Mariah Carey and Justin Bieber. The host sits in a car along with the guest star, and together they sing along to songs like Carey's "Always Be My Baby" and Bieber's "Baby." In addition to sing-a-longs, Corden also chats with the guests during the ride.
