"The Originals" Season 3 will be introducing a new male character. "Veronica Mars" actor Jason Dohring has been cast to portray the recurring role.
According to Entertainment Weekly, Jason Dohring has been added as recurring character Detective Kinney in "The Originals" Season 3. Detective Kinney is described as "a confident man" who will bring justice to New Orleans.
However, a Movie Pilot report revealed that Detective Kinney does not know about the existence of the vampires, werewolves and witches in New Orleans as he tries to maintain balance and order in town. It would be interesting to see how Detective Kinney will deal with these powerful supernatural creatures, particularly the Original vampires, after he finds out about them in the upcoming new season.
Meanwhile, Detective Will Kinney will not be the only new face in town. A male and female vampire will be heading to New Orleans as well.
Aurora, a new female vampire, will arrive in town but her plans and motives are still unknown. Aurora is described as a "sexy" and "very unpredictable" vampire because she can turn deadly with just a blink of an eye.
Another new character heading to New Orleans is a good-looking vampire named Lucien, who has a past with the Mikaelson family. Aurora and Lucien could be new allies for the Mikaelsons or the new enemies that the Original vampire family must deal with.
Klaus (Joseph Morgan), Elijah (Daniel Gillies) and Rebekah Mikaelson (Claire Holt/Maisie Richardson-Sellers) defeated their Aunt Dahlia (Claudia Black) in "The Originals" Season 2. Dahila, a powerful witch, arrived in New Orleans to take Klaus Mikaelson's (Joseph Morgan) daughter in order to fulfill the "first born" deal that Klaus' mother, Esther (Alice Evans), made with her in the past.
The new vampire characters could be a threat once again to the life of Klaus' daughter, Hope, because they can use the child against Klaus and harm her in order to get back at the Original vampire-werewolf hybrid. "The Originals" Season 3 is scheduled to premiere on Thursday night, Oct. 8, at 9/8c on the CW Network.
