Blizzard Entertainment recently announced that the sixth expansion of the highly successful "World of Warcraft" franchise will be unveiled at 2015 GamesCom in Cologne, Germany.
Blizzard made the announcement via the official "World of Warcraft" blog posting inviting gamers to join the company on Aug. 6, 9 a.m. PDT. The company said that it will hold a live stream for the event for fans that will not be able to attend the event in person.
The game maker will also hold a live stream on Aug. 9 with the expansion's developers who are scheduled to chat and explain the features included in the latest expansion, according to IGN.
Even though Blizzard has kept its silence about the name of its latest expansion, a trademark application was picked up late in 2014 with a name "Eye of Azshara" which quickly sparked speculation about the upcoming add-on.
There are unconfirmed rumors claiming that the new expansion will be called "The Dark Prophet" which was based on some leaked information back in July.
Additionally, the new expansion is also rumored to feature the Shadowstalker class, a ranged class that uses guns, crossbows, bows and focus on magic. Based on some fan fueled rumors and speculations, the new expansion will feature Zul and Azshara as the main antagonists in the game's storyline.
The last "World of Warcraft" expansion was "Warlords of Draenor" and was released in November 2014. The expansion introduced features like the ability to garrison shipyard, the Tanaan Jungle Zone and Hellfire citadel raid. More than three million copies of the expansion were sold within the first 24 hours after it was released.
