Chelsea boss José Mourinho had some unkind words for the wife of Real Madrid chief Rafa Benítez, as the 52-year-old Portuguese manager retaliated from the comments of Maria de Montserrat that his husband is "tidying up his messes" all the time.
Montserrat was referring to the times when she thought Benítez had to replace Mourinho as manager of what she claimed "disorganized clubs". She said that Real was the third team of Mourinho that Rafa had succeeded and the Spanish coach always had to clean up the former's disastrous stints, as per the Mirror.
Mourinho hit back by saying that "the lady is a bit confused, with all respect." He then explained that Benítez replaced Roberto Di Matteo at Chelsea in 2012 and then recently replaced Carlo Ancelotti at Real. He clarified that the only club Benítez actually took over from his reign was at Inter Milan in 2010.
The Chelsea head honcho fired some more shots by saying that Benítez "destroyed the best team in Europe at that time" in only six months at Inter's helm.
Internazionale won the Serie A, Coppa Italia, and Champions League during Mourinho's final season at the Giuseppe Meazza. Benítez was fired halfway through his first season upon replacing Mourinho in Milan.
The insults did not end there as The Special One also taunted the Real manager's weight.
"And for her also to think about me and to speak about me, I think the lady needs to occupy her time and if she takes care of her husband's diet she will have less time to speak about me," Mourinho said.
SB Nation indicated that Montserrat's comments were actually quite "strange" given the fact that his husband never replicated any of "Mourinho's success in either Milan or London."
