Former All-Star point guard Baron Davis is reportedly fielding interest from multiple teams, including big market ball clubs such as the Chicago Bulls and the Los Angeles Lakers, according to a league source.
The 36-year old Davis is attempting to make a comeback after suffering a gruesome injury (torn ACL and MCL in his right knee) while playing for the New York Knicks in the first round of the Eastern Conference finals series against the Heat.
The severity of the injury shelved Davis for three seasons, but after a lengthy rehabilitation the veteran point guard wants to play again in the NBA.
According to DYST writer Mike Ortiz, there are at least five teams that could show interest in Davis once he officially announces his availability in the free-agency market. The Chicago Bulls, Indiana Pacers, Brooklyn Nets, Atlanta Hawks and defending Eastern Conference champion Cleveland Cavaliers are mentioned as potential suitors for the two-time All-Star, while a report by TMZ added the Clippers and possibly the Lakers to the mix.
"Our sources say Davis - the #3 overall pick in the 1999 NBA Draft - has been speaking with several squads who feel he could be a good backup for a young point guard. We're told the Clippers and the Cavs are among the playoff contenders interested in Davis ... with the Lakers also in the conversation. We're told so far ... there is NOT a deal in place, but that could change very soon."
Sources: Hawks, Nets, Bulls, Cavs and Pacers among early teams that could show interest in veteran Baron Davis' return.

Davis, whose high-flying act and explosive scoring ability earned him two NBA All-Star appearances, may have already lost his athleticism but he nevertheless showed during his recent Drew League campaign that he can still get the job done with his outside shooting and veteran savvy. Davis already confirmed on Sirius XM Radio that he's going to work out for several teams in hopes of landing an NBA contract. A third-string point guard will likely be his role if he manages to secure a roster spot for next season.
