Psyonix announced that "Rocket League" has officially surpassed 5 million downloads since its launch early this month. The physics-based video game is a free PlayStation plus title and all subscribers were able to get the car and a soccer mashup for free.
The number of downloads also includes "Rocket League" download through PC that was also released on the same day. In a Play Station blog, Psyonix Vice President Jeremy Dunham wrote, "It is our sincere hope that this mix of paid DLC and free add-on content is what Rocket League fans have been waiting for."
"It's just the beginning of what is plenty more to come," Dunham added.
The game was released on Windows PC earlier this month together with "Rocket League" PS4. PlayStation Plus subscribers will be able to enjoy the "Rocket League" PlayStation game for free until Aug. 4.
Moving ahead to next month's "Rocket League" DLC, the first ever "SuperSonic" DLC and "Rocket League" patch notes will go live and will bring in some vital fixes. According to Psyonix, it will include the following:
- "Quick Chat" commands that can be utilized cross-platform between PS4 and PC.
- Tracking of stats for your online games in order to properly record its correlating garage items.
- Ability of AI Bot to adjust to the average skill level of those currently playing the game.
- Banning the first player that abandons a "Ranked" match from further matchmaking for a period of 15 minutes.
- "Far, Far Away" (PS4) trophy can be unlocked if you play online.
- "Virtuoso" (Steam) achievement is easily obtainable and will include descriptions.
- A fix for multiple crash scenarios.
"Rocket League" update for 1.04 is set for early August and this will include DLC support, Spectator Mode, new flags, and a free map.
