Porn streaming website Pornhub's users have received threats and demands for settlement for uploading copyright videos to the adult website. However, it is unclear how the copyright troll got the personal information of the uploaders.
DieTrollDie, a troll monitoring website informed TorrentFreak that many folks who uploaded content by TaylorMadeClips are getting emails for settlement with the company. Apparently, the settlement money is thousands of dollars.
Mark Borghese, lawyer of TMC has mailed the letter to people stating that they have illegally shared copyright content.
"It has come to our client's attention that you have distributed our client's videos without authorization and in violation of our client's rights," reads the mail.
"In particular, you have shared [..] our client's videos on Pornhub under the username [redacted]. Each illegal distribution made of those videos constitutes a separate act of copyright infringement directly attributable to you."
The correspondence also stated that the authorities will check "every single hard drive and other electronic storage device" forensically.
Before closing, the person is given one last chance to settle with the company. However, the settlement cost is way too steep.
The website tried to contact Borghese in order to find out how he managed to get the identity of the Pornhub uploaders as the adult website are not made public. It has to be seen if Pornhub provided the details to Borghese, however according to TorrentFreak, it can be quite expensive.
All the uploaders in question were contacted through email and not through ISP. It has to be seen how Pornhub reacts to these alleged copyright infringement emails sent to the uploaders.
