One Direction recently gave terminally ill kids another reason to smile by lending huge support to the Believe in Magic charity children's cause. Louis Tomlinson's donation amounted to a whopping $3.2 million, creating a torrent of praise and positive comments from his avid fans online.
Tomlinson's followers called the soon-to-be-dad an angel. They tweeted they were proud of him. No less than the United Kingdom Prime Minister David Cameron tweeted likewise that he was proud of young event organizer Meg Bhari and Tomlinson for making a magical night, for the terminally ill kids, a reality.
Joining Tomlinson at the charity ball that took place in London's National History Museum were his mother Johannah Deakin and fellow 1D member Liam Payne. Though bandmates Harry Styles and Niall Horan were not around, they donated personal items that were auctioned off.
Attendees had a fun time, and One Direction fans got a kick seeing Horan's face painted like a tiger after losing a bidding competition with Tomlinson. One of the musical moments was an acoustic song by "X Factor" winner Ben Haenow, MTV reported.
Believe in Magic, founded in 2011, is a charitable endeavour close to the hearts of One Direction members. Tomlinson lived up to his role as ambassador and took active part in this year's event by announcing, hosting, and releasing post-event feedback in leading social media sites.
It is not the first time that the popular British-Irish pop group has used its star status to highlight a good cause. The "Drag Me Down" singers have teamed up a few years back with other charitable entities and helped raise awareness and funds via the online platform Prizeo for cancer-stricken youngsters, Christianity Daily reported.
Indeed, celebrities with a giving heart, who share their time and help generate funds for those in dire need of these, never fail to touch hearts.
