Apple is scheduled to launch its latest devices in an upcoming major event in September. With the date closing in, the tech giant is slowly rolling out updates in order to further advance its services.
Apple was recently reported to be working on a new feature that will be integrated into the iOS 9 called Wi-Fi Assist. This new feature will allow iOS devices to choose the best possible signal at a given time and location. According to the Daily Mail, the feature will occasionally switch between Wi-Fi and cellular data signal depending on which of the two has better coverage.
While this new feature presents a significant leap in terms of network coverage, it is still not integrated in the iOS 9 public beta build. Many believe that Apple might announce this new feature at the upcoming Apple event in September.
On the other hand, two major updates that were released on the iOS platform in recent weeks did not come from Apple. Microsoft announced last week that the Microsoft Translator will be released to the Apple Watch. The Redmond-based tech giant also announced that it will release an update for the iOS version of Microsoft Outlook.
Microsoft Translator is cloud-based multilingual translation service. The app offers translation service with support of up to 50 languages. It was first integrated exclusively in Microsoft products like Office, Skype and Bing. The latest update will make the service available on iOS devices like the Apple Watch, iPhone and iPad.
Microsoft's decision to release Translate on the iOS platform is part of the former's effor to expand its services into a bigger mobile market.
Finally, Microsoft announced that it will roll out an update for the iOS version of Outlook. According to Macworld, the rollout includes updates to enhance the app's performance, integration and user-interface.
