Liga MX squad Club América tries to continue its dominance of Group E competitions in the 2015-2016 CONCACAF Champions League with its match against Nicaraguan team Walter Ferretti at their home stadium of Estadio Azteca in Mexico City, August 19.
Los Azulcremas, the defending CCL champions, destroyed the Honduran club CD Motagua in their opening game last August 5 with a 4-0 demolition also at their home field.
Defenders Ventura Alvarado and Pablo Aguilar, forward Oribe Peralta, and midfielder and team captain Rubens Sambueza scored a goal each to facilitate the merciless blanking, as per the CCL's official website.
Ignacio Ambríz's boys will face somewhat the same resistance from Ferretti, even though Henry Urbina's team is coming off a four-game unbeaten streak in the Primera División de Nicaragua.
Ferretti's last game was a 1-0 win over fellow PRD club Juventus Managua at the Estadio Nacional Dennis Martinez in Managua last Sunday, via Soccerway. They are currently tied for first place in the recently opened Nicaraguan league, which they last won in 2014.
Facing the world class talents of Las Águilas is a different story altogether. The competition level experienced by América is generally higher than that of Ferretti, which would more likely make it another classic rout by the champs.
Prediction: A 3-1 conquest for América. The Nicaraguans will score once, but then Ambríz will turn on his team's strikers for another convincing beating and the top spot in their group.
