There are rumors that LG G2, LG G3 and LG G4 will skip Android 5.1.1 Lollipop OS and will be directly updated to Android M OS update.
Currently, LG G2, G3 and G4 are running on Android 5.1 Lollipop OS. There has been no word from LG regarding the latest Android 5.1.1 Lollipop update for G2, G3 and G4. There are speculations that LG is instead waiting for Android M release in the fall.
Currently, Android M preview version is available to developers and is packed with numerous enhancements.
In the past, LG has skipped consecutive operating system updates for its devices and then directly gone to the latest version of the OS just like when some LG devices were running on Android 4.4.2 KitKat and skipped both the 4.4.3 and 4.4.4 OS updates and directly went to the Android 5.0 Lollipop version.
There are also rumors that the operating system updates for LG G2 are in the phasing-out stage and Android M update will be the last update for the device. LG has chosen to remain silent on the issue and it is not known whether LG will support this device in the future or not, according to GSM Arena.
According to BGR, Android M release is expected to happen alongside Google Nexus 5 2015. The powerful Google Nexus 5 2015 as it will be the first device to come pre-equipped with the operating system.
Currently, the Android M Preview is available for the developers for testing purposes. The main version is expected to have dual-SIM support, enhanced permission settings and easy uninstallation features for apps.
