"Fear The Walking Dead" is set to premiere on AMC on Aug. 23, Sunday. Recently, showrunner Dave Erickson gave a comparison between the upcoming series and "The Walking Dead."
Erickson told Hollywood Reporter that there is no love triangle in "Fear The Walking Dead" unlike in "The Walking Dead." He explained that the upcoming series is not about the love of Shane Walsh (Jon bernthal) for Lori Grimes (Sarah Wayne Calliers), the wife of Rick Grimes (Andrew Lincoln), which was something his co-creator Robert Kirkman pitched very early.
"It's just a solid relationship," Erickson said. "Nobody cheated on anybody."
According to Erickson, it was nobody's fault why the last marriage of Travis Manawa (Cliff Curtis) did not work in "Fear Of The Walking Dead." He said it could be "a little bland" but on the other hand, it is "honest on how it goes down."
A divorced father and an English teacher, Travis Manawa can be compared to "The Walking Dead" character Dale Horvath (Jeffrey DeMunn), who saved Andrea (Laura Holden) and Amy (Emma Bell) during the initial outbreak.
Kim Dickens' "Fear The Walking Dead" character Madison Clark, a widowed mother with a secret past, is also similar to "The Walking Dead's" Rick Grimes, the partner and long-time best friend of Shane Walsh.
According to Buffalo News, "Fear The Walking Dead" is a new story with no graphic novel to turn to. The first season finale is set to air on Sept. 27 while a second season is set to premiere in 2016.
