Alison King plays Carla Connor in "Coronation Street," the longest running TV soap opera in production in the world. Recently, the actress revealed that she has often had to drink to excess as she plays the role of the boss of the local factory Underworld in Coronation Street.

In an interview with Express, King said the drink is a "horrible red grape juice." She said, "It's really sweet and sickly, and yes, I sometimes have to drink an awful lot of it."

During a break from filming "Coronation Street," King revealed that she has been playing drunk for the past two days and it was really hard in terms of continuity because they have been recording out of sequence.

King added that she has to remember how much Carla Connor has had to drink "whether she's had a nap, whether she's topped up the booze from the night before" and she hates watching it.

Meanwhile, former "The X Factor" winner Shayne Ward has expressed how excited he is to join the "Coronation Street" cast playing Aidan, a distant cousin of Michelle Connor.

"I'm beyond excited," Ward told What's On TV. "Like Aidan, I'm a Mancunian with Irish heritage so the role fits me like a glove. (I'm excited to play) a Manchester lad in the iconic Manchester show."

Ward added, "Well, it doesn't get much better. My family have always been massive fans so it really is a dream come true for me."

According to Ward, his mother's smile was incredible when he told her he was joining the "Coronation Street" cast and he will never forget the look on her face.
