While he is not against having a gay James Bond, Owen Wilson and Lake Bell's "No Escape" co-star Pierce Brosnan does not believe that it is likely to happen soon.
Discussing the possibility of having a gay James Bond in a recent interview with Details magazine, Brosnan said, "Sure. Why not?"
Brosnan played James Bond in "GoldenEye," "Tomorrow Never Dies," "The World Is Not Enough" and "Die Another Day." For him, a gay James Bond would "certainly make for interesting viewing" but he does not have any idea how it would work.
Despite of his acceptance of the revolutionizing the character he played in four films, Brosnan pointed out that James Bond films producer Barbara Broccoli would allow a gay James Bond to "happen in her lifetime."
Currently, Daniel Craig is reprising his role as James Bond for the fourth time in Sam Mendes's "Spectre," which is set to hit theaters in the United States on Nov. 6.
During the interview, Brosnan also talked about the recent legalization of gay marriage in Ireland. The actor said, "I never thought in a million years, but hallelujah! Enough of the shaming."
For the "No Escape" actor who grew up outside of Dublin said the legalization of gay marriage in Ireland is "a great indication of the forward-thinking of a nation that's been so mangled by religion."
Meanwhile, "No Escape" is set to hit theaters on Aug. 26, Wednesday. On Aug. 16, Brosnan was with his three sons during the film's premiere in Los Angeles, People reported.
Along with Brosnan, Wilson and Bell, "No Escape" stars Jon Goldney, Byron Gibson, Spencer Garrett, Matt Olnyk, Thanawut Kasro, Chatchawai Kamonsakpitak, Sahajak Boonthanakit, Tanapol Chuksrida, Kanarpat Phintiang and Duang Maidork, among others.
