The Buffalo Bills decided to release Fred Jackson on Aug. 31, 2015. He is the oldest running back in NFL. With this decision by the Buffalo Bills his nine-year long career came to an end. The GM of Buffalo Bills calls the decision "difficult."
The General Manager Doug Whaley said that they "had to make the difficult decision to release Fred Jackson." He added that Jackson had an "incredible career" for the company for the last 10 years.
"We thank Fred for his hard work, dedication and leadership during his tenure with the Buffalo Bills. Fred has inspired the city of Buffalo in a number of ways. Fred and his family have been dedicated to this community and we can't thank them enough for their contributions through his career."
On Saturday, Jackson tried his best to deliver when he went for 48 yards on five carries, he managed to score a touchdown, noted SB Nation. His first carry was a run of 41 yard from scrimmage.
Jackson has a fine career with 5646 yards in his career and he has scored 87 touchdowns. In the last season, he averaged at 3.7 yards per carry which was low in his career.
According to NFL, the veteran's best season with the Buffalo Bills was in 2009. He had 1062 yards during that season.
Jackson's salary of $2.35 million and his age compelled the Buffalo Bills to release him. However, during his career he was a favorite among the fans of the game.
