It looks like new details and spoilers for "The Flash" season 2 have been revealed regarding a new leader in S.T.A.R. Labs and the rumored identity of the new villain, Zoom.
A new cast member for "The Flash" season 2 has been announced as "Final Destination" actor Tony Todd will be playing Zoom and will be making his first appearance in episode 2 titled "Flash of Two Worlds", Variety reported
Todd will be joining other newcommers in "The Flash" season 2 such as Adam "Edge" Copeland, Teddy Sears, Violette Beane, Keiynan Lonsdale and Shantel VanStaten.
"The Flash" season 2 will focus on the alternate worlds in the multiverse were in Barry Allen (Grant Gustin) will meet another speedster with the same name, Jay Garrick (Sears). Jay will serve as Barry's new mentor in the season 2 as Grant Gustin previously stated that his character will learn new lighting based powers during the show's run.
Barry will also meet Zoom and is hinted to be faster and more dangerous than Reverse-Flash (Tom Cavanaugh and Matt Letcher). Although Todd has been cast as season 2's big bad, he will only voice the character, meaning Zoom's physical appearance will be portrayed by another person, or a new actor.
Executive Producer Greg Berlanti told Variety that he compared the Zoom character to that of "Star Wars" villain Darth Vader were in James Earl Jones provided the voice behind Vader while another person is doing his actions, adding more mystery to his true identity.
Berlanti futher adds that Zoom's costume will be "more organic" than Reverse-Flash hinting that the suit maybe alive or has dark energy within it.
YouTube channel Emergency Awesome reportedly claimed that Zoom is a different person within the show compared to the original character name, Hunter Zolomon as he theorized that Barry Allen's future self could be the new villain due to having blue streaks of lighting when running.
In other news, Iris West (Candice Patton) will be taking on the leadership role within the S.T.A.R. Labs team. Co-executive producer Andrew Kreisberg stated that Iris will step up to lead the group the momment Barry decides to leave them due to his fear of putting them in much more danger, Realty Today reported.
Kreisberg also stated that Iris will be the key to bring the whole team back together as he cited that Iris is a natural born leader and can stand up to Barry.
