Huawei has just revealed Mate S as its new flagship phone at IFA Berlin.
Huawei, the largest telecommunications equipment manufacturer in the world, has a new phone that incorporates a feature similar to Force Touch by Apple. It is no secret though that the Chinese company takes its inspiration from big companies like Apple and Samsung, Gizmodo reported.
Apple's force touch is a well-known feature of Apple Watch and MacBook. It is also being rumored to have been incorporated to the upcoming iPhone 6S.
Huawei's version of force touch is called Knuckle Sense 2.0 that allows one's knuckles to access the features of the phone either by a hard press or simply swiping the LCD screen.
Huawei Mate S will be equipped with a HiSilicon Kirin 935 processor, an octa-core with 2.2 GHz speed, a Mali-T628 for its graphics processing unit and a 3 GB of RAM. The HiSilicon processor achieved an AnTuTu benchmark score that is similar to Qualcomm's Snapdragon 808 processor, Android Central reported.
Huawei Mate S comes with a 5.5-inch Full HD, 1080 x 1920 screen resolution and 401 ppi pixel density AMOLED display that is covered by a 2.5D Corning Gorilla Glass 4 pane. It also comes with a rear 13 MP camera equipped with an optical image stabilization and dual LED flash. Protecting the camera lens is an anti-scratch sapphire glass. An 8 MP camera at the front is also equipped with a LED flash.
Huawei Mate S is about 2.65 mm in thickness and has a matte metal unibody that makes it look simple, but elegant and sleek. It contains a fast charging feature - 10 minutes worth of charge can give its users two hours of talk time. A 2,700 mAh battery is also included.
Premium Huawei Mate S edition will come in pink or gold, with 64 GB internal memory. It is splash resistant, and a 4G LTE and dual-SIM capable, as well. Users can use an additional 128 GB memory card on one of its SIM slots. The device will be preloaded with Android 5.1.1 OS as well as Huawei's Emotion 3.1 User Interface on top.
Huawei Mate S is expected to be released on Sept. 15 at a cost that is more than $700. However, it is not intended for the North American market.
